this long awaited split is finally out and i'm sure it'll be regarded as one of the sickest
releases this year. digested flesh is one of the greater bands to come out of new jersey and when i saw them at the tokyo death fest they put on a hell of a show and have since become one of my favorite bands. digested flesh uses mostly slams and breakdowns that are so massive there like sonic bulldozers destroying everything in their paths but their songs still manage to be catchy and you can remember them easily. the vocals are low zombified style gutturals that remind me of wayne the former vocalist of devourment a little bit with some putrid backing vocals which makes for a nice blend. the guitar, bass and, drum parts are all heavy as fuck as well with the guitar riffs being solid but easily remembered as i said before and the bass and drums are very tight making all the instruments construct together beautifully. They do have some occasional blast parts but when they slow things down you really feel the influences from devourment shine through so if you are a big fan of devourment styled bands and some guttural slamming bands you'll love it digested flesh's half of the cd for sure. now inhuman dissiliency consists of only three members- shawn the guitarist, brian the vocalist and todd the bassist and they use a drum machine and i must say i'm so glad they finally released this material which contains 4 tracks by them with the first track just being a sample. after the beginning sample ends it goes right into the first song and as usual shawn has created some cool slam and breakdown riffs which are very down tuned and reminiscent of devourment's molesting the decapitated album. many tempo changes occur in the songs and they come pretty suddenly with no warning while brian, shawn, and todd come at you with a triple vocal assault that has a very good harmony but yet remains sick at the same time. i also would like to point out that the drum programing is great and doesn't sound completely inhuman (no pun intended) so it makes it easier to fall into the music without dwelling on the fact that there's no real drummer. so to sum it all up this split cd is definitely awesome and was definitely worth the wait and both of these bands now seem poised to brutalize and level the scene like no one has before so if you don't already have this split cd go pick it up! This split cd fuckin rules!!! that's what I thought after I knew about this release haha. I give respect to Steve of comatose recs who decided to release this since kretan's mcd christian corpse mutilation has not been available for a long time and its re-release is long awaited. This split cd's other side is sikfuk!! as everyone knows, sikfuk is one of sickest bands and they play really diverse and unique sound but brutal as fuck. One of the hottest bands for sure and if Im not mistaken, their songs on this cd were gonna be released as a split cd from united gutturals recs, but that split cd was not realized so rare and anticipated released stuff from both bands is here on the disc!! First off, the side of kretan. They play straight forward brutal sound which reminds me of devourment and some early 2000 bands or late 1990 bands. So actually the band has been around in that era. Nick's vocals are really deep as fuck gutturals as if there's no highs he constructs the bands lower sound by his lows and cpt.blaaa played guitar for kretan as opposed to he played drums in sikfuk. He plays low chunky and chuggy riffs which are well downtuned and distorted. The band seems like a more straight and lower sound than sikfuk playing more complicated songs. But yeah kretan has pure sickness and primitive brutality with their low as fuck sound so I really dig this band. A for sikfuk, they have three songs for this split. Nick does the guitar and vocals and cpt.blaaaa is on drums. First off, nick's vocals has progressed obviously since kretan as he uses many tones of guttrals ranging from highs to lows and he switches those as always so for sure his lows are still low as fuck. So he has many variations of vocals, and not only gutturals but he uses squeals and other kind of vocals. Also, what surprised me is that he plays guitar with vocals at same time and the guitar parts are not simple but really techy and unpredictable riffs that remind me of cerphalic carnage. Sikfuk has many tempo changes like slows, grinding, midsections and chaotic parts and etc. Changing those parts occur everytime, so i know nick has been tried to make the songs diverse and with his own style as always. So in the result of this he came up with different vocal ranges for his gutturals and a unique and techy but brutal as fuck guitar sound so for sure he brings new wind and flows to the scene and is one of the main persons brutalizing the scene. To sum it all up, this split cd fuckin rules haha. Recently sikfuk cd released their new cd and with that cd, this split cd is a must have cd. Seiji |
